Influence of Digital Instructional Media Utilization on Academic Performance of Postgraduate Educational Management Students in Rivers State Universities

The study investigated influence of digital instructional media utilization on academic performance of postgraduate
Educational Management students in Rivers State universities. Three specific objectives, three research questions and
three hypotheses guided the study. This study adopted descriptive survey design. The population of the study consisted
of all the 145 postgraduate Educational Management students in Rivers State Universities. The study used the entire
population of the students as census. The data collecting instrument for this study is a self-structured questionnaire
titled “Influence of Digital Instructional Media Utilization on Academic Performance Postgraduate Educational
Management Students Questionnaire” which was validated by two experts, one in Measurement and Evaluation, and
one from Educational Management in Rivers State University. The instrument was tested for reliability using
Cronbach Alpha statistics and the scores collated yielded an average reliability index of 0.81. Mean and standard
deviation were used to answer the research questions; while the null hypotheses were tested using z-test at 0.05 level
of significance. Findings of the study revealed that utilization of digital textbooks, open educational resources, and
computer networks in instructional delivery influence students’ academic performance in Rivers State universities to
a high extent. Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that, Government should properly fund
universities to make available open educational resources to the end users. Individual teachers and students should be
encouraged to purchase some computers that are within their reach for adequate computer networking during
classroom instructions
