Assessment of Availability of Workshop Facilities for Effective Teaching of Students of Electrical/Electronic Technology in Universities in Rivers State.

The study was based on assessment of availability of workshop facilities for effective teaching of students of Electrica/Electronics Technology in Universities in Rivers State. The study adopted the descriptive survey research methodology and a sample size of 342 respondents who were students and lecturers in the department of technical education in these universities were made questionnaire was developed out of four (4) research questions and 16 items were drawn from them. The response format was multiple-choice, in line with the 4-point Likert scale of very high extent (VHE), high extent (HE), low extent (LE) and very low extent (VLE). It was administered by hand through two (2) research assistants. It was analyzed using the z-test at a level of significance of .05. It was discovered that the manual tools, power tools, electrical measuring instruments and safety gadgets are capable of promoting the academic performance of students of Electrical/Electronic Technology in these state-owned universities. It was recommended that adequate materials such as manual tools, power tools, electrical machines (Arc welding machine, Electrical generators, etc) and safety materials should be provided in these universities so as to promote the quality of instructions and the academic achievement of Electrical/Electronic Technology students in Universities of Rivers State.
