E-learning Applications and Learning Outcomes of Postgraduate Business Education Students in Rivers State Universities

The study investigated E-learning applications and learning outcomes of postgraduate
Business Education Students in Rivers State Universities. Three research questions and three
hypotheses guided the study. The correlational research design was adopted for the study
with a population of 92 Postgraduate students of Business Education in 2020/2021 Academic
year comprising 43 postgraduate students of Business Education Department in Rivers State
University, Port-Harcourt and 49 Postgraduate students from Business Education
Department in Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port-Harcourt. The entirety of the
population was used as census. Two different questionnaires titled: “E-learning Applications
Questionnaire” and “Learning Outcomes of Business Education Postgraduate Students
Questionnaire” were used for data collection. The instruments were face and content
validated by two experts in Measurement and Evaluation and the Department of Business
Education, all in Rivers State University and tested for reliability using Pearson Product
Moment Correlation Coefficient which yielded reliability indexes of 0.83 and 0.76. Pearson
Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used to answer the research questions while
the hypotheses were tested using t-Transformation at 0.05 level of significance. Findings
amongst others unravelled that a high, positive and significant relationship exist between
Google classroom and zoom application usage and learning outcomes of postgraduate
Business Education Students in Rivers State Universities. The researchers recommended
among others that school management should regularly organize seminars/workshops and
other training programmes for lecturers and students on the use of Zoom application for
teaching and learning so as to enhance students’ learning outcomes.
