Abstract

This paper focused on educational policies and their implementation as they relate to science education in Nigeria.
Quality science education is a catalyst for the technological advancement of any nation. Our inability to make science
education in Nigeria what it ought to be like in other climes, has contributed in no small measure to the low level of
development, technological advancement and scientific breakthroughs. This advancement in technology could be
impeded by some educational policies that impact negatively on science education. The paper highlighted some
impediments to effective science education in Nigeria and concluded that improved science education will encourage
scientific research which will in turn stimulate technological growth and development. On this premise, possible
solutions were proffered so as to improve the quality of science education in Nigeria
